Who is there among us who hasn't had a sad day?
Or, who is there among us who always got his way?
Life has its ups and downs, its valleys and its peaks
We're not always at the bottom, the middle, or at the top of the heap.
When things are on the upward rise, good times are always near;
But, when life dips and our plans fail, do we often have great fear?
It's easy going down the happy road, the challenges are very few;
But, then there are days when patience is tried -- and there's extra work to do.
Now on the journey down easy street, we may take all the dues.
But, just hit the detour - then we shift the blame - and sit and sing the blues.
In times of plenty - smooth sailing times -- we often forget our God.
But, let things go wrong in troubled times and He quickly gets the nod.
And if we've erred and done so wrong, we sometimes self-condemn --
We tear ourselves down and refuse to change, losing our faith in Him.
God's love and grace is there at all times, He never, ever leaves.
And though we have failed and done so wrong, no need ever to grieve.
For, I was on His mind that day when He hung upon the tree.
He suffered and died, was scoffed and shamed, just for a sinner like me.
And, I'm quite sure when the great bell is rung and life is here no more,
He'll forgive us more than we ourselves, having great things in store.
So, keep the faith, walk in love, we all fall short of grace.
He loves us always unconditionally and I long to see His face.
Great blessings will come, we'll grow as we go, having Him as guide
And when we're all done, He'll welcome us in, forever to abide.
